The article presents the study of economic and social well-being of the population in the NWFD regions and the Republic of Belarus, held by ITSED RAS and the Institute of Sociology of Belarus NAS in 2009. The article gives a comparative analysis of public attitudes to political and economic situation of countries and regions, evaluation of topical social issues, reflection of financial and economic crisis effects on the welfare of families, the level of protest moods
